Kick Off!! - Footy Starts at last

Less than 24 hours until the first bounce down of the season and we could not be here without you.

Just a few quick points prior to tomorrow, which we would love for you to share with all our families.

  • The bar is open every Friday night
  • NAIDOC 4th September
  • Footy under lights
  • Half time footy at the ammos
  • Canteen

 The bar is open

From tomorrow night, the club rooms will be open for Friday night football. This week we only have one scheduled game so it will open from 6-9pm. We would love to see as many people down at the club to celebrate the start of the season and cheer on our year 9/10 girls as they take on North Beach. From next week it will be open ~5-9pm.

NAIDOC

The club is in the process of planning a NAIDOC celebration for Friday 4th September. This was a highlight of our calendar last year and we look forward to having the Wumbada Dance Group join us again and share their culture.

Footy under lights

Now that the first 10 weeks of fixtures have been set, we can now consider opportunities for our boys teams to potentially move a fixture from Sunday to Friday nights. For this to work we need to know if your team is keen and the coach & managers are available to complete their roles. The club can then speak with opposition clubs to determine if they are also keen and available. We are really keen to have our boys and girls teams side by side as one club.

Half time footy 22nd August

The Wembley Footy Club (seniors) have asked if we could provide a team (or 2) to play a half time match during the A grade game on Saturday 22nd August. The seniors start at 350pm so half time would be approx. 430pm. The little league game would be 10-12 minutes. This is open to both boys and girls teams. If you think your team would be keen please let me know as we strive to create a stronger link with our senior club.

Canteen

With the restrictions that were put in place over the past 3 months the canteen has been put on the back burner. The committee last year determined this should be a whole club activity (rather than just year 7s) and funds raised reinvested into the club. We wold love for the canteen to be operational again this season and would welcome a volunteer to help coordinate this.

I hope you have all enjoyed the school holidays and are super excited for the start of the footy season.
